Sanoukou Gold Project
The Sanoukou Gold Project, located in the highly prospective Kenieba-Kedougou window of southwestern Mali and just to the west of the town of Kenieba, is part of Great Quest Gold’s portfolio. Covering 24 km², this strategically positioned concession lies within the highly prolific Birimian, West Africa’s renowned gold belt, known for hosting world-class gold deposits.
Sanoukou is part of a region that has long been recognized for its rich mineral potential, offering significant opportunities for the discovery and development of high-grade gold resources. Preliminary exploration has identified several promising targets, with further drilling and sampling planned to fully assess the scale of mineralization.

Exploration Progress
Great Quest’s exploration at Sanoukou has included:
- Rock sampling programs
- Diamond drilling: 13 holes totalling 2,183.9 meters
- Recent artisanal mining evaluations, with sampling of ore and waste
Extensive exploration and artisanal work has revealed evidence of significant high-grade mineralization, suggesting there is a substantial untapped upside to earlier exploration efforts. Great Quest has invested over US$3 million in exploration at Sanoukou, with promising results that include:
- SN02 drill hole: 3.4 meters at 3.2 g/t gold (completed by Great Quest in 2011)
- RAB18 drill hole: 3 meters at 5.0 g/t gold
- RAB53 drill hole: 19 meters at 2.6 g/t gold (drilled in 2006 by SOMIFIM)
Artisanal mining activity has provided additional insights, with samples revealing high-grade mineralization. A total of 34 samples graded between 0.6 g/t and 24.9 g/t gold, indicating that prior drilling may have missed the key structural targets. This new data suggests a potentially large upside for further exploration, positioning Sanoukou as a high-value development opportunity.

Geological Overview
The Sanoukou permit lies within the Kenieba-Kedougou window, a region composed of Birimian lithologies that have historically hosted numerous gold deposits and producing mines. The region is marked by significant structural features, including faults and second-order splays, such as the Kenieba-Medinandi structure, which is linked to major gold discoveries including Fekola, Djambaye, Tabakoto, and Segala. Sanoukou’s location along these key geological structures makes it highly prospective for future discoveries.
